How frequently should my scale be calibrated?

There is no easy answer. It depends on the appropriateness of the scale for the application, the work environment, and the frequency of use. At minimum, an annual calibration is suggested.

How long will my scale last?

It depends on the proper scale selection, the environment, frequency of use, and care. If the appropriate scale is selected and reasonable care is exercised, it should last for years.

What guidelines are used to calibrate scales and balances?

All scales and balances are calibrated to manufacturers specifications employing certified test weights traceable to the National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST).

Can I send data from my scale or balance to a printer or computer?

Virtually all scales and balances have data output available either standard or as an option. Software packages are available and custom programs can be written in-house to meet your specific requirements.

Can my scale be washed down?

Scales are available that meet NEMA4X/IP67 classifications. These scales are completely protected from dust and water immersion to 3 feet.

What will happen if I overload my scale?

All scales are built with one to five positive overload stops to reduce the probability of scale damage due to overloading. Most industrial scales can sustain up to 300% safe overload.

Can my scale be moved?

Most scales are fully electronic with no moving parts. The scales can be easily moved with virtually no risk of damage. Many battery operated models are available.
